Caitlin continues on in her exploration of modern art and has moved on to Installation Art. here we see the Artist developing "Beach On Slide" and then symbolically destroying it in a headlong rush down the slide. (watch it here) it raises worrying questions. does she feel that, by creating art we are destroying the object represented and therefore seeks to destroy the representation in an attempt to restore authenticity of perception (if such a thing is ever possible)? or is she attempting to convey the headlong rush into global eco disaster that will lay waste to the world's coastlines. as ever, the artist remains enigmatic.

i feel your critique of the artists work misses the point of her choice of materials. essentially, here we have the ancient and natural (sand, rock)juxtaposed by the modern and man-made (plastic slide). the act of sweeping the 'ancient' away (with style and vigour!) to leave the unadulteratedly modern and new is quite obviously an homage to purity of human thought and ambition. whilst such a thought process is somewhat at odds with this critics position on post modern art, i feel it, nonetheless opens up a rich seam of dialogue on the nature of 'progress'.
